Strawberry Shortcake!

What could be better than strawberry shortcake outside in the summer?

Rebekah is 1!!!!

My sweet, little Rebekah turned one on Saturday!! We originally planned a farm animal theme, which turned into a generic animal theme when Party City didn't have any farm animal decorations. I just adored her piggy cake, which was a fun jest at her healthy appetite - I'm sure I'll get yelled at when she's a teenager! She loved her cake too, and squished the heck out of it before eating it.

Squash

Today started the making of homemade baby food! I got a squash from the grocery store, pureed it, and divided it into ice cubes for Rebekah. She had her first cube tonight and did all right. I wouldn't say she loved it, but she definitely wasn't opposed to it. On an unrelated note, she also discovered her feet today!

Bisons Game

We enjoyed $1 ice cream and popcorn Monday night at the Bisons game. Bethany and Rebekah were not paying attention to the game (obviously), but the Bisons were stinking anyway. Then we left, and apparently they had an amazing comeback. Again. We should probably stop leaving games early. Or start going more and leaving early, depending on how superstitious you are.

Camping Misadventures, Episode 3, Day 3

Sunday morning we woke up earlier than everyone else, and went to the Marblehead Lighthouse. It was super pretty looking out across the lake, and we had fun walking on all the rocks.

Mommy made a treasure hunt for the group, and while they were trying to solve the clues to find the treasure, Bethany called Grandma Miriam to talk. I can't wait until I'm big enough to use the phone.

We went for a long hike to get the treasure and came up emptyhanded. Treasures can be like that. So we treated ourselves to ice cream instead. No one shared with me. :(

After ice cream we tried our hand at putt-putt. The last couple of holes, everyone went at the same time - I liked watching all the balls roll around everywhere! Then it was time to go home... until our next trip!

Reception

Bethany (Sr.) had fun chairs and coloring books waiting for Bethany and Jonas when we got to reception. What a good idea! They entertained Bethany for quite some time.

During dinner, Bethany took advantage of the empty dance floor to get some dancing in. We had fun twirling in circles! It's a good thing, too, because once everyone else started dancing she wanted nothing to do with it.

And, yes, Rebekah was there. She's kind of quiet, you know.

Camping Misadventures, Episode 2, Tuesday Night

All the sun got us ready for some relaxing by the fire Tuesday night. Unlike the day before, we were able to start it without our neighbors help. You would think that with my Mommy having camped every year of her life they'd be better at building fires! Bethany tried a marshmallow, but didn't see the appeal. Too sticky, she said!

Easter Celebration

Bethany got spend Easter in Ohio! She loved having plenty of time with her grandpa Jon and grandma Miriam, and got to visit with lots of friends and family. A belated Happy Easter to all, or as the Lutherans would say, "Christ is risen!"

Trunk or Treat!

On Sunday Bethany got to go Trick or Treating! Trinity had an event called "Trunk or Treat" where the kids could walk around the parking lot and collect candy from all the cars. Bethany was a natural trick-or-treater. She grabbed as much candy as she could and stashed it in her pumpkin!

New Cousins and Food

Bethany finally got to meet Geoff and Claudy on Wednesday - and she's getting a new cousin in January!! Congrats! Bethany is oh-so-excited. Yesterday we went to the park for lunch. Bethany enjoyed the end of my sub, and loved being able to see Daddy in the middle of the day!In the evening we went to watch Uncle Mike's hockey game. When he lost, we all went out for ice cream to cheer him up. (At least that was our excuse.) Grandpa gave Bethany the bottom of his cone... yummy.Come on, Daddy, don't you want a kiss?

Creekside Adventures

The babies had fun at the park Friday. At one point, I decided it would be a lot of fun if we could get down by the water. So, in order to make it down the narrow, rather steep hill, I turned the double stroller backwards and eased the babies down. Bethany loved watching the other kids play in the creek, and did a tad bit of wading herself. Then it was time to head back to the car. Twenty minutes later, we were finally back up that narrow, rather steep hill. Not trying that again any time soon.

Fun with Eating

Some of my favorite times with Bethany are when she's eating. So, enjoy my favorite moments from last weekend!

Oats

Tonight we had a dinner party with Aunt Sarah, Uncle Andy, Uncle Mike, Aunt Mary, and of course Jonas. Bethany took advantage of our lively board game by sneaking into the cupboard and grabbing herself a can of oats. Yummy!

Feeding Myself

Bethany has been refusing to eat her baby food for the past week or so. It finally occurred to me this morning to put the bowl of food in front of her and see what she did. Sure enough, Bethany's all about feeding herself! Bibs are officially back in style.

Birthday Cake

Bethany had a spring theme for her birthday party today. And see that amazing cake? Sarah and I made it all by ourselves. Aren't you impressed? (I know my Roberts girls are proud of me.) Bethany loved her first taste of actual junk food. She savored it quite a bit, which is good considering it won't happen again until year 2!

Biscuit

Bethany seriously loves these biscuits, and I'm happy to say that she's become significantly neater while eating them. No bib or anything!

Bitter Biscuit

Ok, she's not actually eating a bitter biscuit, it's a biter biscuit. But I like to call it a bitter biscuit because it's funny and it annoys my husband. Bethany loves them, and eats them like a crazy person. (Hence the nakedness.)

Bethany learned how to half-clap today. She's got it down pat with her right hand, but her left thumb likes to get in on the action and messes her up. What can you do?
