Tornadoes in Buffalo??

I drove home from Target a half hour ago in some of the scariest weather I have ever seen. The thunder and lightening were going like crazy, branches flying, Beth screaming in the backseat... I just couldn't believe it. Then I get home, run inside with Bethany, and turn on the tv to breaking news of a severe tornardo warning. Tornado warning?! What the heck? And here I thought I was losing my mind... glad God us home safe!

Bath Time

Everyone mark today on your calendar as a momentous occasion. For the first time ever, Bethany got out of her bath without making one single peep. Even when I was mean and unwrapped her... not one sound. What is going on?! Where did all the post-bath bawling go?

You hit me in the ear!

One of Bethany's new favorite games is getting hit in the face with her foot. And while a little part of me wonders if this is somehow abusive, the look on her face is so hysterical I find myself doing it constantly. So maybe saying it's one of my new favorite games is closer to the truth. Who knew it could be so much fun!

We walked to the park this morning, and this is how I put Beth down while I was getting her stroller out of the trunk. Isn't she the cutest baby ever?

Coming Home...

Wow, I can't remember not having this gorgeous girl in my life. And to think, this picture was taken before she had been home at all. Today we celebrated 10 weeks of life with a picnic lunch with Daddy, and some quality Mommy time at home in the air-conditioning. 10 weeks. Time flies!

MC Hammer Baby

I just love these pants Bethany got from her cousin, Leah. They crack me up. She is sure a stylish baby!

Weekend Outside

Bethany spent all of last weekend outside in the sun. (You can probably tell from her slight burn in these pictures.) For the first time, I have no pictures of the actual events! I forgot my camera, can you believe it? What is going on! So you'll just have to hear about it without illustrations.

Bethany's firsts this past weekend: first time mini-golfing (or at least being strollered around the course), first parade, first bonfire at Grandma and Grandpa's (technically her 2nd fire, but she didn't enjoy the 1st one for long), first time to the marina, and first time getting caught outside in the rain. She has quite the social life, my little girl.

Beth and Ben

Bethany met another cousin today! She has so many friends already. Ben was slightly more curious then Beth (maybe because he's 2 months older), but neither of them cared too much. Ah well, at least Beth had fun playing with someone else's toys, and she'll have someone to play with when she does start caring.

Chunky Monkey

That's right, Folks, Bethany is now officially just as heavy as other babies her age. She weighs 10 pounds, 12 ounces! Holy cow! But I love every little bit of her. (She looks kind of sheepish in this picture, doesn't she?)

Sleep Tight

This has been pretty much Bethany's day today. She's gone from sleeping in our bed (since 5:00 this morning)...

to sleeping on our couch. What a life.

Recovering from the weekend

We got home from Michigan around 6:00 last night. Less than an hour after we got home we had 6 people over at our apartment! We had fun catching up with Mom and Sarah and the Trinity gang (and eating dinner). And needless to say, Matthew and I stayed up late! So today Bethany and I just lazed around... and I attempted to recover from a weekend out of town with the flu. Not quite there yet, but at least I'm feeling "with it" again.

Bethany's getting hungry!

Michigan!

Once again, Bethany had a very event-filled weekend! At the last minute, we decided it would be great to go to Michigan and see a bunch of my mother-in-law's family. So, it was off to Great (to Beth) Grandma and Grandpa Brown's house. We got to see lots of family - Uncle Bruce and his awesome girlfriend Marcy, Andrew and Emily and Baby Ailey, Mom and Dad Lafferty, and of course Grandpa and Grandma Brown.

Here's us in Frankenmuth - we had fun bumming around there Saturday afternoon.

And here's Bethany with her great grandparents!

And finally! Ailey and Bethany meet! Ailey's 2 days older than Beth... what fun! The cousins had a great time meeting, and next time they may actually know what's going on and interact!!! (I'll let you play a little bit of Where's Waldo with these pictures - where's Bethany?)

Late Night Out!

We just got home from being out with Gram, Mom and Michael. Fun times! Now it's off to bed to rest up for our trip to MI tomorrow. Can't wait!

Heads Up

Bethany is getting so alert. Lately every you hold her she'll have her head up off of your shoulder looking at everything around her. And last night I laid her down on top of me on her stomach and she propped herself up on her elbows and lifted her head to look around. I swear - even ask Matt. It was awesome!! Of course, we ran for the camera, but there was no way she was going to do it again. Ah well, it's a start. She's getting so big!!

Fun with Grandpa Jon and Grandma Miriam!

I had such issues picking a picture for today, so I decided to use them all. What a busy week we've had so far. Bethany's Grandpa and Grandma just left from being up for the weekend. Man, did Bethany have fun with them! She gave them lots of smiles (she's getting good at doing it on cue)... and she can't wait until the next visit!

Wedding Weekend!

Well, Sarahbug is finally married! Bethany had a lot of fun at the wedding... and was very TIRED by the end of it! Here's her at the rehearsal...
And us before the wedding...
Her being walked down the aisle (what a cute flower girl she makes)...And finally chilling out at the reception.Lots of people took very cute pictures of her, so I'm sure you'll be seeing wedding pictures for quite a while.

Congrats, Sarah and Andy! Love you!

Three cheers for little Bethany who slept for 7 hours straight last night! She's growing up so fast... and I'm loving every minute of it!

A Happy Moment

Before bed, I thought I'd leave you with a face that just makes my day!

It's Been A LONG Day!

Wow, it's already 4:30, and we just walked in the door from being out all day! We spent most of the day at Grandma's (Bethany's Great Grandma) hanging out in this beautiful weather. Plus we were bribed with a free lunch. That helped. After Gram's we stopped by the bank to buy a bond for Bethany's college/wedding/car/whatever fund, and here we are! And she is pooped! She'd better sleep tonight...

Bethany needs...

Don't worry, I won't count this as real post, I just found it amusing. These are the top 15 things that came up when I searched for "Bethany needs" on Google. (Hey, it's late, Beth's not sleeping...)

1. Bethany needs to read this. (Might take a few years.)
2. Bethany needs to send information to other places. (Once she's gotten the hang of sending info at all.)
3. Bethany needs to make short and long term plans. (Working on that...)
4. Bethany needs to play as much as she can. (That she does!)
5. Bethany needs somebody who can spare 1/2 day a week. (So true... but more like 1/2 day every weekday.)
6. Bethany needs to reach students. (Guess you have to be a student first.)
7. Bethany needs help writing thank you notes. (Luckily she's got her mom for that.)
8. Bethany needs to pray daily. (How ironic... check out #98)
9. Bethany needs to learn how to spell. (After she learns how to talk, or coo, or whatever.)
10. Bethany needs to finally accept the universe-saving commission. (Whatever that means, but if it involves saving the universe I'm all for it!)
11. Bethany needs to be blasted down. (Um, ok...)
12. Bethany needs to find out the secret. (So do we all.)
13. Bethany needs to work on her vowels. (Actually, she's got the vowels down... we're working on consonants now.)
14. Bethany needs real friends. (With her personality, shouldn't be a problem.)
15. Bethany needs more space. (This is very true... she's taking over our whole apartment!)

Gambling Already?!

Mike officially turned 19 last week, so it was off to Canada for some gambling fun! Bethany got carded and wasn't allowed in, so we all took turns hanging out with her by the obsenely ridiculous fountain. Not quite as much fun for her, granted, but at least she saved herself $20. And she got to see a foreign country... exciting stuff.

Girls Night Out

Last Friday night, the girls all got together to hang out one last time before Andy steals Sarah away. So, Bethany got all dressed up and ready to go! Destination: the bowling alley for some crazy midnight bowling (at 10:00)!
Turns out Bethany isn't too fond of the game yet, but she'll learn.
Instead, she had fun just hanging out with Aunt Sarah, Grandma, Laura, Beth and Me!

Cherish Every Moment

Sarah, Bethany and I went to the grocery store yesterday. Just as we were walking in the door we were stopped by a woman who said, "Oh, how cute! How old is she?" I told her, and she preceeded to tell me all about her daughter who was expecting. After a few more remarks about my baby's good looks, she left, reminding me to "cherish every moment." As soon as she was out of ear shot, Sarah turned to me and asked, "Does this always happen to you?" Yeah, now that I think about it, that's pretty much the exact dialogue of all my conversations lately. But hey, can you blame them? I mean, look at her.

On a completely unrelated topic, Sarah and I were talking about what we're going to do with our kids come fall. Anyone want to babysit Bethany for a month until baby Atticus is born? I won't be able to pay too much, but you'll get a lot of quality time. What can be better than that?

A Sad Little Sabres Fan

At least she would be if she could stay awake.

Daily Stupidity

Ok, time for a stupid Lisa story. Yesterday, Bethany and I were leaving our apartment, and just as the front door closed behind us, what did I realize? That's right, I forgot my keys. My annoyance quickly escalated into panic because not only did I forget my keys, I also forgot my phone. Not only that, but we were leaving to go meet Matt, so I knew he wasn't coming home anytime soon. So I forced myself to do something I never would have before Bethany. I asked a complete stranger to use her phone. And she was nice! Imagine that. So Bethany and I got back inside the building and patiently waited for Matthew to come and rescue us. What a life.
