No Longer Newborn

Well, my baby has officially hit the 6 week mark and is out of newborn status. It's amazing how much she's changed already! I wish I could slow it down... instead I'll just hog all the Mommy time I can and enjoy her growing into a healthy little chunker! Just think, pretty soon she'll be old enough to appreciate big Sabres wins, like last night... instead of being forced to wear a bib 10 times too big for her and have no idea why. Still, that must've been good luck! Thanks, Uncle Mike!

Beginnings of a very cute smile

First Road Trip to Grandma and Grandpa's!

Well, the long weekend is officially over, and what a weekend it was! A lot of firsts for our little one. First road trip, first smile (kind of - can't really do it on cue yet!), and first time meeting a lot of her family and friends. And there was some excitement for us, too. We had a lot of fun putting her on the ground and watching her eyes follow us around the room. We spent a whole afternoon hanging out in the beautiful (hot!) weather just watching the boys put the roof on the Ganson house, too. Ah, the little things in life! But now it's back to our normal routine... that is, once Bethany remembers what time of day it is.
Bethany and her cousin, Michael. (I'm pretty sure... sorry, Boys, if I'm wrong. Let me know!)
Bethany just loves Grandma Miriam!

I love Fridays... especially Fridays before long weekends! Tonight we're heading down to Columbus to be with Matt's parents for the weekend, so today is officially packing day! And seriously, I feel like I'm going somewhere for a year packing this baby up. How much stuff can someone so little possibly need?? But it's worth it, because I'm that much closer to Maggie Moos.

Might as well sleep in on Saturday

This morning I was flipping through the channels thinking about how much I hate tv. Why can't my daughter grow up with quality cartoons, like Looney Tunes (seriously, I get the Warner Bros channel, why are they not playing this!) or Fraggle Rock, instead of all this Power Rangers garbage? And whatever happened to Get Smart? I tried to get a season or two on dvd - turns out it doesn't exist. So, I ended up browsing the internet, trying to fulfill my need for quality stupid humor. In honor of my buddy Max, who seems to have dropped off the planet somewhere, here's a quote:

Operator: "What number are you calling?"
Max: "I'm calling Control, Operator."
Operator: "You have dialed incorrectly. Give me your name and address and your dime will be refunded."
Max: "Operator, I'm calling from my shoe!"
Operator: "What is the number of your shoe?"
Max: "It's an unlisted shoe, Operator!"

Ah, I love Get Smart.

Nursery Rhyme Blues

Bethany has this awesome mobile that lights up, spins, plays music and everything. Perfect for putting your little one to sleep! So last night she was having issues falling asleep and I planted her under the mobile. I turned it on, pressed a button, and went back to my own room. For the next half hour I suffered through "Mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring" playing on my baby monitor. (Which I find necessary to use, although she's probably less than 10 feet away from me in the next room.) All that to say, if I hear that song one more time I think I'm going to cry - and she's not even old enough to push the buttons herself yet!

Today is already looking like a much better day. The sun is shining, I've managed to eat and shower, and Bethany hasn't spit up once. Not even the Sabres losing last night could put a damper on this day. And with any luck, I'll even be able to get my dress altered for Sarah's wedding and finally take my husband out for his birthday lunch. (Which may be switched to dinner!) But for now, I'm going to concentrate on picking up the place a bit like a good housewife, and finishing the banana bread I made before it goes bad! Meanwhile, Bethany is taking a much needed nap. And here I thought that would never happen!

It's just one of those days

I think I can safely say that Bethany is growing a healthy set of lungs. I just need to work on understanding her form of communication a little better! We're on our way to Target to get her first set of bottles... pray her day brightens up a bit. Hopefully she just needs to get out and enjoy some fresh air!

Enjoying doing laundry...

I feel like quite the housewife today. I've already been grocery shopping, I have a load of laundry in the dryer, a bread in the oven, and an awake but contented baby in my lap. We're getting ready for a fun night with daddy (to Bethany, that is) to celebrate his birthday. And I suppose while we're at it we can celebrate Bethany turning one month old today. Holy cow, has that gone fast! She's already my little chunker - weighing in at a hefty 8 lbs 12 ozs. I wish I could put her on slow-motion, although I am anxious for her first real smiles and all that stuff to come! Here's to family - I love it!

I'm sitting here after my first full night's sleep in a month, typing with one hand and holding a very thirsty baby with the other. My how my life's changed! Today we took a trip to meet all my grandmother's friends, which according to my grandmother was long overdue. However, after only a half hour of poor Bethany being poked and proded, grandma told us she wanted to go play cards and we had to go. It's just so hard to fit quality time into such a busy schedule. Anyway, I've decided to take advantage of this unexpected time home, and it's off to torture my daughter with a bath.
